The Community
Taking Care of Itself.
Since 1994, the Jenks Community Food Bank has provided food and essential necessities to families in the Jenks Public School district who need temporary assistance — neighbor helping neighbor, year after year.
The Community Taking Care of the Community
It started in 1994 with an Eagle Scout and a mission — provide food and essential necessities to families in the Jenks Public School district who need temporary help. More than thirty years later, the Jenks Community Food Bank is still at it, still volunteer-powered, still fueled entirely by the generosity of the community it serves.
The Food Bank's name was chosen deliberately. "We couldn't do it alone, and that's why we wanted to be called the Jenks Community Food Bank — because we are the community taking care of the community." That spirit is visible in everything the organization does: over 4,000 volunteer hours logged every year by Jenks neighbors, teachers, business owners, and families who believe no one in Jenks should go hungry.
The need is real. More than 40% of students in Jenks Public Schools qualify for free or reduced-price lunches. The Food Bank meets that need directly — in 2024 alone, food was provided to 1,782 individuals across 556 families, with nearly 260,000 pounds of groceries distributed through 5,949 individual distributions.
"We're here. Sadly, we'd like to go out of business, but we'll never go out of business because there will always be a need."

Connected to the Trojan Family
The bond between the Jenks Community Food Bank and Jenks Public Schools runs deep. When the Trojan Pride Marching Band held its Grand Nationals send-off, the community showed up — and donated 1,681 pounds of food to the Food Bank in a single night. That's Jenks, America.
JenksFM 90.1 is proud to broadcast the voice of this community — and the Jenks Community Food Bank is part of that community in the most direct way possible: making sure every family in the Jenks school district has enough to eat.
